An Evening with Tony

Tony Bennet was in town Friday night for the opening of a renovated Memorial Hall in Chapel Hill and Kevin and I were able to get tickets a few months ago. We had seen him once before in Boston, but this was a truly more intimate experience. The concert hall was small, holdin only 1400 people, and our seats turned out to be quite nice. He is 79 years old, and sounds like he's just getting his 2nd wind. It was such a great night. We even got to get all dolled up for the event. There was no shortage of black ties when we got there, and it just made the evening even more special. We disobeyed the rules and snapped a few pictures, really none of which turned out great without the flash, but this one was the most decent. It was a late night (for mom and dad too....) but well worth it. And as if all that wasn't special enough, it turns out there was a special guest at the concert: one Andy Griffith. He had donated some memorabilia to a library at Chapel Hill and was on hand to make an entertaining speach. We topped off the night with a midnight dinner at McDonalds. We neglected to save time to eat beforehand.....
