Myrtle Beach Day 3

Today the rain came pouring down, and we attempted to beat the crowd to Ripley's Aquarium. We did, but it was still crowded. The aquarium is small, but has a neat tunnel with moving sidewalk you go through and fish swim all around you. The main attraction is the sharks, and they are breath-taking. At one point, one was swimming right next to us, with its eye on us the entire time. It was a little creepy, but very cool. Cole loved the aquarium and all the coral reefs and bright fish. He was SO exicted, yelling and smiling. Our pictures are blurry, b/c the flash had to be off, but you can see our shark, Cole looking at the fish, and also at this mini play area he went crazy over. All in all, we are grateful to be able to have some time at this beautiful hotel. Back to reality tomorrow -- and that's ok. I'm ready for it. :)

Myrtle Beach Day 2

First things first:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!
Cole loves Grandpa, and has even said the word twice ("Ba-Pa"). No luck on "mama" yet.....

The weather was much better today, with the high only reaching 90 and it was overcast. After Kevin's morning meetings we headed to the great pool here! They actually have 3 pools, a hot tub and a water slide! We didn't do the slide today becasue the line was a bit long, but I think we'll try tomorrow. It's an easy going slide and we've seen several parents take their infants down. I'm sure Dean is cringing right now....

We bought a little floater for Cole and turns out he loves it! $5 well spent. He played himself silly and now he's pooped out. Which is great, but nap time in a hotel room has been tricky. Not much to do when Cole's asleep, I finally was able to kick Kevin off the laptop.

Tonight I'm not sure what we'll do. I tried in vain to find the J. Crew outlet today, but now I REALLY think i know where it is.

Myrtlel Beach Day 1

Well we made it last night at 9:30, and got settled fairly quickly and easily. We're staying at the Marriott on the beach and it's a new hotel, so everything is all pretty and fresh. Our bed has got to be the most comfortable thing we have ever laid down on. I think it has that memory foam on there, and Kevin and I spent at least 30 mintues last night wondering if anyone would buy our old matress so we could get one like this. It was truly like sleeping on air.
Today Kevin treated me to a spa pedicure downstairs, and that was so nice. So while I read a telling article on Brad Pitt (it was actually a REALLY interesting article, not the usual fluff and stuff), a wonderful lady gave me a relaxing spa pedicure and some cute pink polish.
It's so hot here as well, so Cole and I went out for lunch and the to the grocery store and then kept to our nicely cooled room.

HOT HOT HOT

The forecast today is 101 with a heat index of 110! I feel like we are living in the dessert, only it's much much hotter.
Today I set up a little oasis for Cole and I to beat the heat. With a little help from our helpful neighbor, I got our beach umbrella set up next to our pool for a shady dip in the water. It was still hot, and we only lasted about 20 minutes, but it was fun to get out and play. As an extra bonus, Cole is taking another nap this afternoon.

Tomorrow we leave for a conference in Myrtle Beach so hopefully I'll be able to post from there.

Saturday is Family Day

Today we went to the city's Arboretum. Kevin and I used to go there all the time and hadn't been in a long time, so we thought we would beat the heat (97) and go this morning. It heated up quick, but it was still really nice. Everything was in bloom and we even saw some humming birds. Kevin snapped a few pictures and we're anxious to get them developed. Here's a picture of Cole in front of one of the fountains, which he loved. We didn't let him near it, as he has a seroius love of water and splashing. Just a fun day to hang out and do nothing in particular.

They said it only takes 5 minutes.

To set up a weblog, that is. So I did it. Why not. I tend to be sporratic, excited about something one day, forgotten the next, but I thought I would give this a shot. Seeing as many people I love now live outside my little hometown radius, I figured it would be a fun way to keep in touch. Plus they all already have one, so I need to keep up.
Two dogs, Bou (female, prissy, champion & knows it) and Irbe (male, large, slobbery and my 'special' -- yes THAT kind--boy).
Since the addition of our son, these sweet dogs have taken a quiet back seat. I thought I could honor them with some recognition. Of course it would probably have been smarter to honor them with something they could appreciate, like a bigger bed, couch privileges, and fancier dog treats. They are the sweetest dogs ever, and really our first 'kids.'
My wonderful husband works very hard so I am able to stay home with our boy. I appreciate him so much, and have recently been reading a revolutionary book that suggests I tell him this often. :)
I love all hip baby things, modern fabrics and I'm currently trying my hand at sewing. So far I mainly just love to buy fabric, but I've managed a few totes and an apron. And now on to today's main attraction: fixing my hair. I love Cole's curly locks, however, mine need to be tamed into submision.
