If you didn't know by now, we at the Spillman Household are hockey fans. Case in point: our dog is named after a Goalie, we watched the playoffs while Cole was being born, and we named our son's stuffed dog Stanley. After a year of bickering, the NHL is back and we are so very excited. We're sharing season ticket's with some friends and we just can't wait. In preparation of the season, The Eye (the Hurricanes Store) was offering everything 50% off. So today Cole and I headed there to see if we could find him some appropriate game wear. Obviously, we scored. We came home with this super soft warm outfit, a white tuc, a red tuc, and a plastic kid-size hockey stick. All these great things at a super price. Things I passed up to savor what dignity we have left: a foam puck hat, and a black and red clown wig.
That's right, we don't paint our faces or spell words out on our shirts.
Unofficial practice has already begun at the RecZone, and I think Cole and I will head down there this week to catch some action. Kevin is getting into the "zone" and is glued to his laptop, reading either NHL.com for recent trades or the boards to see what the new rumor is. He also signed up for his first adult hockey league today. He came home with a spring in his step and his skates sharpened. We're hoping for a great season; we will never ever forget going to the Stanley Cup Finals a few years ago. We went to every home Carolina playoff game, including the 3rd longest in NHL History, and got to see some great hockey players. Hoping for more of the same.

Love it, love it, love it! My favorite is your ending poem...... thanks for making me laugh! Wish we were there to enjoy the hockey season with you. Dean is sad already, but enjoys the fact that he can see more games on tv than Kevin IF he subscribes to the NHL package..... :) chris

Kevin's talking about a HD package this year....i was like "won't we be at most of the games?". But in true Kevin fashion, he's found it cheaper than what we have now!!
All right... the sports "dead zone" is almost over.
